Hello guys,come over here and meet the soloist with many awards who is actually deaf. She has been deaf since when she was twelve years old,her name is Evelyn Glennie.
Dame Evelyn Glennie is the first musician to carve out a successful career as a solo percussionist. She has made over 30 solo recordings, won three Grammy awards and performed over 2,500 concerts in 50 countries. These achievements are made even more remarkable by the fact that Evelyn has been profoundly deaf since the age of 12.
She is also an avid collector of musical instruments, and has amassed around 2,000 of them over the years. In this clip, from the programme What Do Artists Do All Day? Evelyn gives us a tour of her barn, the place in her home where she explains “a lot of the physical creativity as a musician happens”.
